Today is Christmas Eve and many of us will be off work and at home with our families for the holiday, myself included. But still the refugee crisis continues, and everyday more heartbreaking news comes in from Aleppo. So much negativity has been spread over the last year, but I wanted to shine a light on some of the amazing work that has been done to support refugees. The White Helmets, The British Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, Preemptive Love Coalition and Syria Relief are just some of the charities helping people in Aleppo right now.
I’ve decided to wear my support, receiving my Choose Love t-shirt in the post a few days ago. It is such a positive message to send and I intend to do so with pride.
‘Katharine Hamnett, creator of the 80’s slogan T-shirt, has donated her slogan “CHOOSE LOVE” – a twist on her iconic CHOOSE LIFE slogan T-shirt. Hamnett has said, “CHOOSE LOVE is central for how we should be dealing with this humanitarian crisis. We are all children of migrants and refugees. Civilisations fall apart when we stop caring for our fellow men.”’ – quote from the website. Click here to buy your own.
Proceeds from the sale of these t-shirts will go to Help Refugees and support them in their work.
There are so many ways you can help, donating money, emailing your local MP, volunteering your time to charity or just speaking out to show you support refugees. So please choose love this Christmas and for the New Year. Each and every one of us can make a difference.
